March 23rd marks a significant day in the annals of Indian history – the day when the nation remembers and honors the sacrifice of one of its most revered freedom fighters, Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh, an emblem of valor and patriotism, continues to inspire generations with his unwavering commitment to the cause of India’s independence. As we observe Bhagat Singh Martyrdom Day on March 23, 2024, it’s crucial to learn about his life, principles, and enduring legacy. Bhagat Singh: A Revolutionary Icon Born on September 28, 1907, in Banga, Punjab, Bhagat Singh was imbued with a fervent passion for India’s freedom struggle from a young age. He emerged as a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement during the early 20th century, vehemently opposing British colonial rule. Bhagat Singh’s ideology was deeply rooted in socialism and secularism, advocating for the rights of the oppressed and marginalized sections of society. While Bhagat Singh and his associate Shivaram Rajguru had intended to kill James Scott. They also shot John Saunders, a 21-year-old police office , in December 1928, Believing Scott to be the primary person responsible for Lala Lajpat Rai’s death.As Rai died from wounds sustained when a British battalion led by Scott allegedly lathi-charged the demonstrators. Following several months of eluding the British police.Bhagat Singh and fellow revolutionary and freedom fighter Batukeshwar Dutt made an appearance at the Legislative Assembly. Setting off two explosives that resulted in explosions. But rather of causing harm to anyone, the primary goal of the explosions was to draw the attention of the British Government. They chanted for freedom throughout the gathering, distributed pamphlets with their manifesto, and ultimately handed themselves to authorities. After being found guilty and executed in March 1931. Bhagat Singh joined the hunger strike campaign started by educationist and freedom fighter Jatin Das. Demanded improved circumstances for Indian prisoners ,while they were incarcerated. Jatin Das died in September 1929 from malnutrition  in jail. Throughout the last few decades, Singh’s fame has increased. He advocated for struggle, was an atheist, and was a knowledgeable guy. On May 23, we commemorate Singh’s role in the Indian liberation movement by marking it as Martyrdom Day. In addition to Singh, the two other companions of Bhagat Singh who were executed by hanging on the same day are also revered: Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru. The Martyrdom of Bhagat Singh On March 23, 1931, at the tender age of 23, Bhagat Singh, along with his comrades Rajguru and Sukhdev, embraced the gallows with unparalleled courage.
