Ganga Aarti, a religious ceremony, was recently organized at Rasulpur Ghat in Mohanpur block of Samastipur district on Deep Diwali. This special event was carried out under the guidance of Pandit Rajesh Ojha from Banaras, with the support of the Samastipur district administration. During the Ganga Aarti, people enthusiastically lit 1001 lamps to celebrate Deep Diwali. The main objective of this program was to bring attention to the importance of keeping the Ganga clean, in line with the Namami Gange initiative. SDM Nishikant Pathori stressed the significance of this program in raising awareness and ensuring the cleanliness of the Ganga river. It was the first time such an event was held in the district, and it will be continued in the future. Regular monthly programs are also planned to create awareness and prevent pollution of the Ganga. On the occasion of Dev Deepawali, members of the Namami Gange initiative also organized a cleanliness and awareness campaign in Varanasi. One of their main messages was urging people to avoid using polythene materials for puja rituals and not to immerse them in the Ganga, as such materials contribute to the pollution of the river. The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the Ganga river and reducing pollution levels. The coordinator emphasized the need to preserve the environment by safeguarding the Ganga river. In fact, they even called for a complete ban on the use of polythene in religious rituals. Dev Deepawali serves as a reminder of the significance of water conservation and the sanctity of the Ganga river. The Namami Gange initiative is actively working towards the clean-up and restoration of the Ganga river in Varanasi, with the hope of preserving its beauty and purity for generations to come.
