Amul Raises Milk Price by ₹2 Per Litre Across All Variants from June Here’s What You Need to Know

Amul, one of India’s leading dairy brands, has decided to increase the prices of all its milk variants by ₹2 per litre starting from June 3. This development marks the first price hike since February 2023.

Following the revision, the prices for 500 ml packs of Amul buffalo, gold, and shakti milk will now be ₹36, ₹33, and ₹30 respectively. The increase in MRP translates to approximately 3-4%, which is below the average food inflation rate.

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the entity behind Amul, has attributed this price adjustment to the escalating overall costs of operation and production. The primary objective behind this decision is to ensure that milk producers receive sustainable remuneration and are incentivized to enhance their milk production.

Jayen Mehta, the Managing Director of GCMMF, emphasized the necessity of this price revision to adequately compensate farmers for the rising production expenses they face. Notably, Amul is committed to transferring 80 paise of every rupee earned from consumers back to the dairy farmers to support their livelihoods.

This price hike is expected to not only benefit the farmers but also contribute to maintaining a consistent supply of quality milk in the market. By balancing the increasing operational costs with the need for sustainable milk production, Amul aims to uphold its reputation for delivering high-quality dairy products to consumers.

It’s worth mentioning that GCMMF’s last price adjustment was implemented in February 2023. The recent decision underscores the brand’s commitment to supporting its network of milk producers while ensuring the efficiency and reliability of its supply chain.

As consumers navigate through this price revision, the underlying goal is to fortify the dairy industry’s foundation, guaranteeing the continued delivery of fresh and nutritious Amul milk to households across the country.
