Additionally, two brave Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), lost their lives in action in Kishtwar district. In the midst of these challenging circumstances, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. This visit comes as the region prepares for its first Assembly election in a decade following the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
The encounters that took place just before the Prime Minister’s rally were a stark reminder of the security challenges faced in the region. However, stringent security measures were put in place to ensure the safety of all attendees.
The voting for the Assembly elections is set to take place in three phases, with the counting scheduled for October 8. It’s a crucial time for the region as it navigates through these challenging times.
During the recent operations, large war-like stores were recovered, underscoring the complexity of the security situation in the area. Notably, this visit marked the first time in 42 years that a Prime Minister visited Doda, highlighting the significance of the occasion.
The soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice were identified as Naib Subedar Vipan Kumar and sepoy Arvind Singh, while wounded sepoys Musadiq Shafiq Wani and Sahil Thakur were airlifted to Command Hospital in Udhampur for medical treatment.
