The Indian government has introduced a new scheme called “Mera Bill, Mera Adhikaar” in collaboration with all state governments to encourage consumers to ask for invoices or bills for their purchases. Under the scheme, consumers have the opportunity to win prizes ranging from 10,000 to 1 crore rupees by uploading their GST invoices on the app. Each uploaded invoice receives an ARN (Application Reference Number) for prize draws. The winners will be announced either monthly or every three months, and cash prizes will be awarded.
To participate in the scheme, the invoice amount must be at least 200 rupees. The app is available for iOS, Android, and there is also a web portal for convenience. Currently, the pilot project is being implemented in states such as Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Puducherry, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu, with more states expected to join in the future.
The Ministry of Finance is implementing this scheme to incentivize citizens to upload their bills on the portal. By increasing the usage of GST bills and combating tax evasion, the government hopes to see an increase in revenue. The winners will be notified through SMS, app, and portal.
The Haryana government has also launched its own version of the “Mera Bill-Mera Adhikar” scheme, giving citizens a chance to win prizes worth 1 crore rupees. The citizens are encouraged to upload their GST bills on the portal, and monthly lucky draws will select the winners from those who regularly upload bills.
