Hamas Israel Ceasefire: The long awaited ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect on Sunday January 17, 2025. World leaders reacted to Gaza ceasefire and Hostage deal implementation.
3 Hostages Released From Hamas
According to the resources, Israel freed 90 Palestinian prisoners and detainers on Monday hours after 3 hostages were released from Hamas captivity in Gaza return to Israel. All the people released onboard were women or minors as per the list provided by the Palestinian Authorities Commission for Prisoner’s Affairs.
The release of the three Israeli hostess also included British– Israeli citizen Emily Damari.
Global Leaders Responded
The Global community also responded to the developments with cautious optimism and called for further action. The outgoing US President Joe Biden said, “After so much pain, death and loss of life, today The guns in Gaza have gone silent. Now the region has been fundamentally transformed.”
The French President Emmanuel Macron responded, “It is now essential to immediately work to respond to the guardian’s vital urgent needs to ensure the delivery of massive humanitarian aid, at the level of the resident’s needs.”
