Himachal Pradesh Cloudburst: On Friday heavy rain and snow led to landslides in Himachal Pradesh. Around 583 roads and 5 highways were blocked on Friday due to landslides in Himachal Pradesh.

Tourist Stranded Due to Heavy Rain

On Friday, Himachal Pradesh witnessed a cloud burst in Chhota Bhangal of Kangra district. A dozen vehicles were swept away in a drain after the cloud burst. In parts of Kinnaur and Bharmour sliding of glacier was also witnessed by people. According to the sources, 4 people were injured when a bus heading towards Pathankot from Mandi over turned as it head a landslide in Mandi district.
No loss of life has been reported yet. On the other hand, a 6 feet snowfall has been seen on Atal Tunnel which made tourists stranded.

Many Parts Affected in Himachal

Due to heavy snowfall and rain several areas in Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba and Shimla district were left cut off on the third day. Due to cloud burst and rain in Chota Bhangal the water level in the Uhal river had increased due to which water was also released from the Barot Barrage.
In the Kangra district of flash flood submerged many vehicles and water had entered several houses leaving 4 vehicles drowning under the debris. Also, flood water had enter the Manuni power project near Dharamshala. In Kullu district also about 90 link roads were blocked.


Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has appealed to locals as well as tourist to stay away from rivers and nallahs. All educational institutions including colleges have been closed in Chamba and Manali. However, the CBSE Board Examinations were scheduled.
