Indian Migrants to be Deported: President Trump has began to fulfill his campaign promises out of which the issue of illegal migration has hit the migrants. India has also agreed to take back it’s illegal 18,000 nationals out of US.

India to Maintain Strong Relationship with US

India will take a proactive step to collaborate with the Trump government aiming to avoid a trade war and strengthen bilateral ties. It is estimated that around 18,000 Indian migrants are said to be deported by the US government. India’s cooperation on migration issues has driven a desire to maintain a strong relationship with the US which is important for its economic and strategic interest.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has been actively engaging with different countries to sign migration agreements including Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Israel. The agreements aim to promote legal migration and deter illegal migration.

According to the resources, the actual number of undocumented Indian migrants in the US might be significantly higher. A significant portion of these undocumented migrants reportedly come from Western India particularly Punjab and Gujarat state.
By taking back illegal migrants India hope to disrupt the support network such as Khalistan movement and prevent them from gaining resistance.
