China is going through struggle with health crisis as Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) rapidly spreads across northern provinces affecting children under 14 years of age. According to the latest reports hospitals and crematories are overwhelmed. The health officials warn people against the misuse of antiviral drugs.
With a rise in multiple respiratory illnesses, authorities have declared a state of Emergency and have launched a pilot monitoring system to manage the surge in pneumonia cases and other acute respiratory diseases this winter.
Symptoms of the Deadly Virus
This new virus can spread through coughs, sneezes and close contact. Severe cases can result in complications like- Bronchitis or Pneumonia. According to the experts, the spike might be due to the lowered immunity after Covid-19 lockdowns.
Right now there is no vaccine for the deadly virus, so staying safe is simple by washing hands, keeping distance and staying home if feeling unwell.
