Yogi Government:After the conclusion of the 45-day-long Mahakumbh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a series of benefits for sanitation workers in the state. These benefits include a Rs 10,000 bonus for sanitation and health workers who were involved in the Mahakumbh. Additionally, starting from April, the minimum wage for sanitation workers will be increased to Rs 16,000 per month. Previously, these workers received between Rs 8,000 and Rs 11,000 per month.
Furthermore, all sanitation workers will be enrolled in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, providing them with free health coverage up to Rs 5 lakh. This initiative aims to improve the welfare and support for sanitation workers, acknowledging their crucial role in maintaining public health and cleanliness.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring better welfare and assistance for sanitation workers through these measures. The UP government has also been recognized for its efforts in organizing the largest coordinated cleanliness campaign during Mahakumbh 2025, setting a Guinness World Record.
These announcements reflect the UP government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the living and working conditions of sanitation workers, who play a vital role in maintaining public health and safety.
