Teenage Boy Arrested for Sending Hoax Bomb Threat on Delhi-Toronto Flight

In a shocking turn of events, a 13-year-old boy from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was taken into custody for sending a hoax bomb threat via email on a Delhi-Toronto flight. The email, which sparked a full emergency declaration at Delhi Airport, was traced back to a fake email ID that was created just moments before the threat was sent and promptly deleted afterward.

According to reports, the young boy admitted to sending the email after being influenced by similar incidents he had come across in the news. The police confiscated two mobile phones that were linked to the transmission of the hoax threat. It was revealed that the boy had used his mother’s Wi-Fi and mobile phone to carry out the act.

After being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, the boy was handed over to his parents. The motive behind the hoax threat, as confessed by the boy, was simply to test if such an action could be traced back to him and was done “just for fun.”

An FIR was lodged based on a complaint from Air Canada airline, whose Toronto-bound flight was the target of the fake threat. The investigation by the authorities eventually led them to the young boy in Meerut. It was disclosed that the boy had drawn inspiration from a similar incident in Mumbai and wanted to gauge the traceability of such threats by law enforcement.

The boy shared that he had intentionally created the email ID on his mobile phone shortly before sending the threat and then promptly deleted it. While the boy was reportedly excited to witness news coverage of hoax bomb threats, he chose not to inform his parents about his actions out of fear.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in such irresponsible and potentially dangerous behavior, even if done without malicious intent. It also underscores the importance of parental supervision and guidance, especially in the digital age where access to technology can lead to serious repercussions if misused.
