Helicopter Delay Leads to Overnight Stay in Haridwar
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav had to stay overnight in Haridwar due to low visibility preventing his helicopter’s departure from Jolly Grant Airport. During his stay, he addressed the media and criticized the BJP governments in Uttarakhand and at the center.
Criticism of Ganga Cleanliness Efforts
Akhilesh accused BJP leaders of failing to keep the Ganga clean despite their vows of devotion to the river. He stated that the BJP is responsible for the increasing pollution and highlighted their inability to meet developmental goals in Uttarakhand.
Claims of Developmental Neglect
He mentioned his role in creating a four-lane road for Haldwani during his tenure and criticized the BJP for neglecting to complete related highway projects. Akhilesh pointed out the deterioration of industries in Pantnagar and Haridwar, asserting that BJP has failed to achieve the developmental vision behind Uttarakhand’s creation.
Opposition to Agniveer Scheme and GST Policies
Akhilesh labeled the Agniveer scheme disrespectful to the dignity of soldiers, urging youth in Uttarakhand to oppose it. He also criticized the BJP’s handling of GST, claiming it benefits select individuals while burdening small traders.
Suggestion to Invite CM Yogi to Uttarakhand
Commenting on BJP’s slogan “Bantoge to Katoge,” Akhilesh claimed it reflects the party’s divisive politics. In a sarcastic tone, he suggested that CM Yogi Adityanath, who coined the slogan, be invited to Uttarakhand for clarification.
SP Leaders in Attendance
Prominent Samajwadi Party members, including state president Shambhu Prasad Nautiyal and others, were present during the event.
This interaction highlights Akhilesh Yadav’s strategic political criticism and his attempts to challenge BJP’s governance ahead of key elections.
