India’s Chandrayaan-5 Mission Approved: A Major Leap in Lunar Exploration…

Chandrayaan 5 Mission Approved: The Indian government has officially approved the ambitious Chandrayaan-5 mission which is a major step towards India’s lunar exploration efforts. ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan announced the approval during an event marking his new role, revealing that the mission would be a significant upgrade from its predecessors.

ISRO To Collaborate With Japan

The Chandrayaan-5 mission will feature a much heavier rover, weighing 250 kg, compared to the 25 kg ‘Pragyan’ rover used in the Chandrayaan-3 mission. This advancement, coupled with a collaboration with Japan, is expected to enhance the mission’s scientific capabilities, opening new avenues for lunar research.

Chandrayaan Solidifying Indian Space Exploration

The Chandrayaan program has been pivotal in India’s space achievements. Chandrayaan-1, launched in 2008, made groundbreaking discoveries by mapping the Moon’s surface. Chandrayaan-2, launched in 2019, was nearly fully successful, with its orbiter continuing to send high-resolution images. The Chandrayaan-3 mission, launched in 2023, achieved a historic soft landing on the Moon’s South Pole, further solidifying India’s role in space exploration.

Looking forward, ISRO is already preparing for the Chandrayaan-4 mission in 2027, which will focus on collecting and returning lunar samples. Additionally, the space agency is working on the Gaganyaan mission to send Indian astronauts into space and plans to establish the Bharatiya Space Station in the future. With these ambitious projects, India is determined to continue making significant strides in space exploration.
