Curfew Imposed Over Nagpur Violence: A curfew has been enforced in several areas of Nagpur after violence broke out over a call to move the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb from Maharashtra. The tomb is located in Aurangabad, now Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Clash After Spread Of Rumors
The violence erupted in the Mahal area after rumors spread about the burning of the Muslim holy book during a protest, escalating tensions between two communities. Videos of a Bajrang Dal demonstration went viral, intensifying outrage. The clashes led to the arrest of 60-65 rioters, 25-30 injuries among personnel, and the burning of 25 bikes and 3 cars. Authorities are working to restore peace as the situation remains tense.
The curfew, announced by Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, applies to Kotwali, Ganeshpeth and other police station areas and will remain in place until further notice.
