Dehradun Sawan 2024:Dehradun, also known as ‘Dronanagari,’ witnessed a grand celebration as Lord Tapkeshwar, also known as ‘Mahadev,’ embarked on a city tour today. The procession was marked by flower showers from a helicopter, and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vidya Giri Maharaj, flagged off the event.

A significant attraction of the procession is the magnificent tableau of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Mahant Krishna Giri shared that devotees would be able to witness the grandeur of this temple during the procession. Digambar Bharatgiri Maharaj added that the procession would also feature performances by groups known for their devotion at Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain, including a damru (small two-headed drum) performance and a famous dhol (drum) party from Maharashtra.

The procession, which began at Shivaji Dharamshala, will pass through prominent parts of the city, including Saharanpur Chowk, Jhanda Bazaar, Ramlila Bazaar, Peepal Mandi, Dhamawala Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Ghantaghar, Chakrata Road, Bindal Bridge, Cantonment Board Office, Dakra Bazaar, and Garhi Cantonment, before concluding at the Tapkeshwar Temple.

To minimize traffic congestion and avoid disruptions, especially considering school schedules, the procession will remain within the inner city areas until 3 PM. It is expected to reach Ghantaghar by the afternoon.
This year’s procession is set to be more grand and elaborate, with representations of the four Dhams (Char Dham) and the three forms of Lord Tapkeshwar. The event reflects the deep spiritual and cultural heritage of Dehradun, drawing thousands of devotees from across the region.
