Delhi Bad Air Quality Recorded: Stricter anti-pollution measures under GRAP-IV have been implemented in Delhi from Monday onwards. Schools and classes have been discontinued by Delhi CM Atishi as the air quality deteriorates.
Classes To Be Operated Online
The Air Quality of Delhi deteriorates to a ‘severe plus’ level with AQI recorded at 457 on Sunday. As a matter of concern the restrictions more stricter than those under GRAP-III have been implemented. Primary Schools have already been ordered to operate online after Stage III restrictions were enforced.
Delhi CM Atishi has posted on X, stating that all in-person classes will be discontinued for students apart from classses 10 and 12. Further, the Public and Private offices have also been asked to function at 50% capacity with the remaining employees working from home.
Strict Ban on Heavy Vehicles Entering Delhi
Apart from this, a strict ban has been imposed on the operation of medium and heavy diesel vehicles (BS-IV and older models) in the city. It can only be used for emergency purposes. For vehicle emission reduction, trucks will not be allowed to enter Delhi. Only those carrying essential goods will be allowed. Light Commercial Vehicles(LCVS) registered outside Delhi and other electric, CNG or BS-VI diesel vehicles will also be barred from entering the city.
For the time being, construction and demolition activities related to linear public projects like- highways, roads, flyovers and pipelines is also halted to decrease the heavy emissions in air.
