Akhara Parishad Declares Ban on Non-Hindus at Prayag Maha Kumbh

In a significant announcement from Haridwar, the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, led by its president and Niranjani Akhara’s Shri Mahant Ravindrapuri Maharaj, declared that non-Hindus will not be permitted entry to the Prayag Maha Kumbh. This decision is driven by concerns over preserving the sanctity of Sanatan culture, citing incidents where non-Hindus have allegedly attempted to defile Hindu customs. The council emphasized that any misconduct at the Kumbh will result in strict actions, including punishment by Naga sannyasis.

Saints Voice Concerns Over Cultural Defilement

The Akhara Parishad’s announcement comes after viral videos showed alleged acts of disrespect toward Hindu traditions by non-Hindus, which has sparked concern among the religious community. The council has called upon the Uttar Pradesh government to enforce strict regulations regarding who can provide services like selling juice or food at the Kumbh. Saints from various Akharas have warned that further incidents could lead to severe consequences, asserting that they would not tolerate disrespect to their faith.

Calls for Government Action

Ahead of the Kumbh, Shri Mahant Ravindrapuri Maharaj urged the government to ensure only those respecting Hindu customs are allowed to participate in essential roles at the event. He stressed that these measures are necessary to avoid any attempts to “corrupt” Sanatan traditions and maintained that saints will act if the authorities fail to enforce these guidelines. The Akhara Parishad, standing firm on their position, emphasized that cultural and religious harmony should not be compromised at the sacred event.

Historical Context and Implications

The Prayag Maha Kumbh, considered one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, holds immense significance for Hindus. The move to restrict entry to non-Hindus marks a decisive stance by the Akhara Parishad, signaling a growing focus on religious purity and traditional practices. With this declaration, there is now a heightened expectation for the government and local authorities to manage the logistics and security of the event while balancing religious sentiments.
