About Badrinath Dham 2024

Badrinath Dham, located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India, is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Nestled at an altitude of 3,133 meters (10,279 feet) in the Garhwal Himalayas, it is part of the Char Dham Yatra, which includes Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. The Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is worshipped here in the form of Badrinarayan, and it attracts thousands of devotees each year seeking spiritual solace and divine blessings.

The Badrinath Temple holds immense religious significance, being one of the 108 Divya Desams—holy shrines of Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu meditated here for thousands of years under the Badri tree, which is how the temple got its name. The temple’s history dates back to ancient times, and it was later renovated by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The temple opens annually from April to November due to harsh winter conditions in the region.

Badrinath Dham is also the northernmost of the Char Dhams and plays a crucial role in Hindu spiritual journeys. Pilgrims undertake the challenging trek to the temple, crossing scenic landscapes and experiencing the serene atmosphere of the Himalayas. The temple is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River, adding to its natural beauty and tranquil environment.

In addition to its religious importance, Badrinath is surrounded by various attractions, including the Mana village (the last Indian village near the China border), Tapt Kund (a hot spring), and the scenic Vasudhara Falls. The combination of spirituality, history, and nature makes Badrinath Dham a unique destination for pilgrims and tourists alike.

With the resumption of darshan at 3:00 PM, devotees will once again have the opportunity to seek blessings from Lord Badrinath Dham 2024 after the conclusion of the Mata Murti ceremonies.
