Dehradun, August 16, 2024 – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has lauded the ‘Mukhyamantri Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana,’ calling it a significant step toward empowering the state’s women. Speaking at an event organized under the ‘Mukhyamantri Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana’ and the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Self-Help Group Empowerment Yojana,’ CM Dhami emphasized the scheme’s positive impact on the women of Uttarakhand, describing it as a “boon” for the state’s maternal strength.

The ‘Mukhyamantri Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana’ has already benefited over 37,000 women across Uttarakhand, with the state’s women self-help groups (SHGs) achieving a business turnover of ₹318.98 lakh in the past year alone. This initiative, launched on August 24, 2023, during the Raksha Bandhan festival, aims to provide a wide market for products manufactured by women’s groups, thereby enhancing their financial independence and economic stability.

“Our government is committed to advancing women’s empowerment,” CM Dhami stated. He highlighted the government’s efforts to support these groups through comprehensive packaging and branding of their products, ensuring they reach a broader audience.

State Project Manager (Marketing) Rohit Singh provided further insights, revealing that the scheme has facilitated significant business activities between August 2023 and June 2024. This year, the department has planned to set up stalls at the block level between the 25th and 30th of each month, and at traditional fairs across the state, to promote the products made by these self-help groups. The initiative began this year with stalls at the Dehradun Secretariat, with plans to expand to other blocks soon.

The ‘Mukhyamantri Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana’ aims to continue its momentum, creating more opportunities for women in Uttarakhand to showcase their talents and contribute to the state’s economy.
