In a heartbreaking incident on the Badrinath highway in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, a tempo traveler carrying 23 passengers met with a tragic accident, plunging into a river. The devastating event led to the loss of 8 lives, with several others sustaining injuries.

Authorities swiftly sprang into action, with teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the police engaging in rescue operations. The injured individuals were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate mishap. He lauded the swift and coordinated efforts of the local administration, SDRF, and police in their commendable work towards relief and rescue operations.

The ill-fated tempo traveler was on its journey from Noida, Uttar Pradesh to Rudraprayag when the accident occurred, sending it plummeting into a 150-200 meter deep gorge. As the rescue operation unfolded, 7 bodies were recovered from the scene, while 9 individuals were hospitalized, including the critically injured driver.

Local authorities wasted no time in launching an investigation to ascertain the cause of the tragic incident, aiming to shed light on the circumstances that led to the fatal plunge.

In this moment of grief and shock, Chief Minister Dhami offered prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives and extended his heartfelt wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured survivors.

The victims hailed from Noida, although their identities are yet to be officially confirmed. The poignant episode serves as a grim addition to the series of accidents that have occurred on the Gangotri highway, where 3 pilgrims had previously lost their lives.
