Heatwave Alert By IMD: After a brief period of cool weather, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for several states, including Delhi, signaling the arrival of intense heat in the coming days. Temperatures, which have been relatively pleasant are expected to skyrocket from a comfortable 31°C to a blistering 40°C by the end of March.
India Recorded Warmest February
While this week promises strong winds and clouds, offering a brief relief from the heat, weather experts are urging caution as the heatwave arrives much earlier than last year. The sudden rise in temperatures is a part of a broader trend, with India recording its warmest February ever, contributing to the overall global increase in temperatures.
The shift to soaring temperatures comes at a time when the country is struggling with extreme heat conditions and residents are advised to take precautions against heatstroke and dehydration.
Delhi Air Quality Index Reach 96
As of now, Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘satisfactory’ category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 96, though experts suggest it could worsen as the heat intensifies.
The heatwave, a significant departure from the milder conditions of recent weeks, marks an early start to what could be a long and challenging summer for many parts of the country.
