PM Modi Inaugurates Z-Morh Tunnel: Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Z- Morh Tunnel at Sonamarg. The project is strategically important as well as crucial for boosting tourism and infrastructure in the area.
About Z- Morh Tunnel
The strategically important Z- Morh Tunnel was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Sonamarg today. The tunnel is located between Gagangir and Sonamarg in Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. It has been renamed Sonamarg tunnel, after the famous tourist spot that will have round-the-year connectivity due to this project. The 6.5 km long tunnel project was built at a cost of Rs 2,700 crore and will enhance all-weather connectivity between Srinagar and Sonamarg via Leh. It is equipped with a parallel 7.5-metre escape passage for emergencies.
PM Inspected The Tunnel
The project is strategically important as well as crucial for boosting tourism and infrastructure in the area. The Prime Minister inspected the tunnel and interacted with the Project Manager and the construction team who worked in the extremely harsh climate to complete the project on time.
Prominent Leaders Attended The Inaugural
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also attended the inauguration. PM Modi said that he keeps the promises that he makes and that the right things happen at the right time.
