Arvind Kejriwal finally granted bail by Supreme Court in land case

In a recent development, Delhi Chief Minister has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi excise policy case. This comes after a series of legal battles Kejriwal has been facing, including a petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate being referred to a larger bench by the Apex Court.

Chief Minister was initially arrested by the ED in a money laundering case on March 21 and was granted bail by a lower court on June 20. However, the ED challenged the lower court’s order in the Delhi High Court the very next day.

The Apex Court made a significant decision to remove Kejriwal from office for 90 days and prohibited him from holding the Chief Minister position. This action was taken in light of Chief Minister arrest in an alleged corruption case related to the excise policy by the ED.

It’s important to note that the case related to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has not yet been heard by the court, and Kejriwal’s case is set to be heard by a bench of three judges in the future.

The Apex court clarified that the investigation is focused on Section 19 PMLA parameters and not on the land issue. Kejriwal has challenged his arrest in the Delhi High Court and also filed a petition in the Court against the ED custody.

Despite Kejriwal’s legal challenges, the Delhi High Court found his arrest to be legal and did not find any illegality in the matter. The ED has arrested Kejriwal for money laundering, granted him bail by a lower court, and then arrested him again.

Adding another twist to the legal saga, the CBI also arrested Chief Minister in a corruption case related to the excise policy scam on June 26. The political and legal turmoil surrounding Kejriwal continues to unfold, and it remains to be seen how the courts will adjudicate on these complex and high-profile cases.
