Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, contesting from the Kalkaji Assembly seat as an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate, offered prayers at the Kalka Ji temple before casting her vote. Speaking to the media, she stated:
“I have sought blessings from Kalka Maa. I am confident that the people of Delhi will vote for work, truth, and goodness in this battle.”
She further emphasized that this election is a “Dharma Yudh” (battle of righteousness), contrasting AAP’s governance model with what she termed as BJP’s “hooliganism”.
AAP Leader Manish Sisodia Votes With Family
Jangpura constituency’s AAP candidate Manish Sisodia, accompanied by his wife Seema Sisodia, cast his vote at Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School polling booth. Urging voters to support good governance, he said:
“I appeal to the people of Delhi to vote for quality education, healthcare, electricity, and water supply. Choose a government that works for the people, not one that engages in divisive politics.”
BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj and Hardeep Puri Urge Voters to Turn Out
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj exercised her franchise at the Janpath polling station. Meanwhile, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri encouraged citizens to vote responsibly, criticizing AAP’s governance.
“This is not just an election; it is a responsibility. PM Modi has implemented numerous schemes for the nation, but AAP has failed to execute them in Delhi. I am confident that BJP will take charge on February 8 and transform Delhi into a world-class capital,” Puri asserted.
Rahul Gandhi and President Murmu Cast Their Votes
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi participated in the voting process, as did President Droupadi Murmu, who cast her vote at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya polling booth.
Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena also encouraged voter participation, stating:
“Voting is not a holiday; it is a duty. I believe the people of Delhi will come out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.”
Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi Urges Voter Participation
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also cast her vote, emphasizing the importance of democratic participation:
“This is the most crucial right we have. If you want solutions to Delhi’s problems, step out and vote!”
Arvind Kejriwal and Family Vote in New Delhi Constituency
AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal voted at the Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School polling booth, accompanied by his parents, wife, and son. He urged Delhi residents to vote for progress, stating:
“I appeal to every Delhiite to come out and vote for the city’s development. The people will choose those who have worked for them.”
His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, also expressed confidence in the electorate:
“Delhi’s people are wise. They will not tolerate hooliganism. I trust that they will make the right choice.”
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Calls Voting ‘Supreme Right’
India’s Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh Dhankhar also cast their votes. He described voting as the “greatest donation in democracy”, urging citizens to participate actively.
“Democracy thrives when every citizen votes freely and wisely. India is a global example of how power transitions peacefully through the ballot box.”
BJP’s Parvesh Verma Encourages Voter Turnout
BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, contesting from the New Delhi constituency, also voted early and encouraged people to break previous voter turnout records.
“Delhi is the capital of India, and we must show that we lead in voter participation. Come out and vote for a government that will implement PM Modi’s vision for Delhi.”
