Dry Day Declared on Gandhi Jayanti in Mahasamund District

In a unique move to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, the state government has declared a dry day in Mahasamund district. Collector Vinay Kumar Langheh has ordered the closure of liquor shops on Gandhi Jayanti in Mahasamund.

On this day, the sale of alcohol, including country liquor, foreign liquor, and composite liquor, will be completely prohibited in the district. The aim behind imposing a complete ban on the sale of alcohol on Dry Day is to promote social upliftment and a healthy lifestyle.

District Magistrate Vandana Singh has announced the closure of country liquor, foreign liquor shops, club bars, hotel bars, and restaurant bars in Haldwani district on October 2nd. Strict action will be taken if any shop violates the rules by opening on the designated Dry Day.

Remember, any violation of the rules in any shop or bar will face severe consequences. It’s essential to respect the regulations set in place for such significant days.

A Dry Day refers to specific days when the sale of alcohol is prohibited by law in certain regions or countries. These restrictions are often imposed to mark important national holidays, religious festivals, or election days to ensure peace and prevent disruptions. On such days, liquor stores, bars, and other outlets that sell alcohol remain closed.

Dry Days are enforced to respect cultural, religious, or political sensitivities. They promote sobriety on significant occasions and ensure that public gatherings or events are not disrupted by alcohol consumption.
