The Kedarnath Yatra was disrupted after a 15-meter stretch of the Gaurikund-Kedarnath pedestrian path near Chirbasa was washed out, halting movement. Pedestrians were stranded for two hours before being safely rescued by NDRF, SDRF, and the Public Works Department (PWD), who created an alternative route for foot traffic. However, horse and mule operations remain suspended.

This route, previously damaged by heavy rains on July 31, continues to face challenges. Over 400 PWD workers are repairing the path, aiming to restore its original condition. Security measures are also being enhanced along the 16-kilometer stretch. Major repairs include constructing gavin walls, CC embankments, and culverts across rain streams and avalanche zones.

The Ramabara area along the route is slated for a 70-meter Bailey bridge over the Mandakini River, which is currently served by a temporary iron bridge. The rescue and repair operations aim to ensure a safer journey for pilgrims as the Yatra progresses.
