IMD Sounds Alarm on Cyclone Dana Formation in Bay of Bengal, Heavy Rainfall Alert for Odisha and West Bengal – Fishermen Warned, Coastal Areas on Alert
Brace yourselves as Cyclone Dana is on its way to the northwest Bay of Bengal, expected to make its grand entrance by the morning of October 24.
If you’re a fisherman planning a serene day out at the Andaman Sea, you might want to rethink your plans. The authorities have advised against venturing into those waters until at least October 21 due to the impending squally weather and moderate to rough sea conditions expected in that region.
What’s causing all this commotion, you ask? Well, a cyclonic circulation looms over the Andaman Sea, gearing up to level up into the fierce Cyclone Dana by October 23. This transformation is likely to bring squally wind speeds and rough to very rough sea conditions to the Central and North Bay of Bengal from October 22 to 25.
The sea surface temperature and tropical cyclone heat potential are apparently throwing a wild party, creating the perfect conditions for Cyclone Dana to show off its strength. The experts have even issued an alert for a cyclonic circulation that is set to evolve into a low-pressure area.
Heads up for the coastal areas of north Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal, as they may be in the line of fire when Cyclone Dana decides to make its presence felt. Get ready for some heavy rainfall, especially in South Interior Karnataka and the Andaman and Nicobar regions.
The plot thickens as the cyclonic circulation is predicted to escalate into a severe cyclonic storm, paving the way for heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha. Wind warnings have been put in place for the Andaman Sea, Bay of Bengal, and nearby areas, urging fishermen to sail back to shore by October 21 as a low-pressure area takes shape over the Bay of Bengal.
An orange alert has been sounded for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with yellow alerts waving for other states, all in anticipation of some serious downpours heading our way.
IMD isn’t taking any chances either, warning us of the impending Cyclone Dana formation over the Bay of Bengal by October 23, with a heavy rainfall alert ringing loud and clear for Odisha and West Bengal. Stay safe and stay informed, folks!
