2.5-Day-Old Baby Becomes youngest organ donor in India: A heartwarming act of Generosity

Dehradun witnessed a historic moment when a 2.5-day-old baby, named Saraswati posthumously, became the youngest organ donor in the country. Tragically, the infant passed away due to a congenital heart defect. Inspired by Haridwar-based Dr. Rajendra Saini, the parents made the courageous decision to donate their baby’s body, facilitated by the Dadhichi Body Donation Committee.

Preservation for Medical Awareness

The donated body will be preserved at Doon Medical College’s museum, serving as an educational resource and promoting awareness about organ and body donation.

A Rare Case

Dr. M.K. Pant and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Maurya of the Anatomy Department emphasized the rarity of such donations. The body will be treated with a thermoline coating for long-term preservation.

This act underscores the importance of organ donation, encouraging others to consider this noble gesture even under challenging circumstances.
