Badrinath Dham closes for Winter
On Sunday, the sacred doors of Badrinath Temple were closed for the winter season. Over 10,000 devotees witnessed this spiritual event. The temple was adorned with 15 quintals of flowers, creating a divine atmosphere. Following the closure, the festive processions of Uddhav, Kuber, and the sacred seat of Adi Guru Shankaracharya commenced their journey to Pandukeshwar’s Yog Badri Temple.
Traditional Rituals and Celebrations
The day began with the morning abhishek puja at 4:30 AM, followed by evening rituals. Chief priest Amar Nath Namboodiri performed the Lakshmi Pravesh ritual, symbolizing the goddess entering the sanctum. The deities’ idols were brought out for the winter journey after final prayers.
Cultural Performances and Devotee Participation
Women from local groups presented folk songs and dances, enhancing the festive vibe. Community kitchens served food, and devotees chanted “Jai Badri Vishal” as the temple doors were ceremoniously closed.
Upcoming Processions
On Tuesday, the sacred seat of Adi Guru Shankaracharya will travel to Jyotirmath’s Narsingh Temple. This marks the continuation of traditional rituals until the temple reopens next year.
This grand event signifies the end of another spiritually enriching pilgrimage season at Badrinath Dham.
