New Year 2025 : As New Year’s Eve approaches, major Indian cities have tightened security measures and issued public advisories to ensure safety and order during celebrations.
Bengaluru: Mask and Whistle Ban
In Bengaluru, authorities have banned face-covering masks and whistling in public spaces. The city police are deploying over 2,000 personnel in popular areas like MG Road, Brigade Road, and Koramangala. Sensitive spots are under CCTV surveillance, with 150 cameras monitoring activities. Special squads, including the Rani Chennamma Women’s Patrol, will ensure safety, especially for women. Public transport services, including metro trains, will operate until 2 AM.
Delhi and Mumbai: Enhanced Vigilance
Delhi has issued guidelines to reduce traffic congestion and accidents, while Mumbai has mobilized over 12,000 constables and senior officers for street patrols. Checkpoints and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been set up to monitor drunk driving and harassment incidents, with strict penalties for offenders.
Both cities aim to manage large crowds and ensure a safe, festive atmosphere for all.
