In India, we observe two Shaheed Diwas – one on January 30th to commemorate the assassination of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and another on March 23rd to remember the supreme sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, who were hanged in 1931 for their revolutionary activities.
These brave souls, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, became an inspiration for the youth of our country through their courageous actions back in 1929. Their fearlessness and dedication to the cause of freedom continue to ignite the spirit of patriotism in our hearts.

Shaheed Diwas serves as a poignant reminder for all of us to cherish and uphold the freedom that we enjoy today. It reminds us not to take our liberty for granted and to always remember and respect those who fought valiantly for the independence that we relish.
Bhagat Singh, a mere 23-year-old at the time of his hanging, hailed from a family deeply rooted in revolutionary activities. His uncle played a pivotal role in organizations like the Ghadar Party and Azad Hind Fauj, setting a strong revolutionary backdrop for Bhagat Singh’s ideologies.
Interestingly, Bhagat Singh had initially planned to seek military training in Japan but later altered his course of action to carry out a bombing in the Assembly. This change in plans was influenced by an offensive comment made by a party member, disrupting the initial trajectory of his revolutionary journey.
Rash Behari Bose had offered Bhagat Singh military training in Japan, but a thoughtless remark made by a fellow comrade played a significant role in steering Bhagat Singh towards a different path, eventually leading to the historic events that unfolded.
As we commemorate Shaheed Diwas, let us pay our respects to these valiant souls and rekindle the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice that they embodied, reminding us of the price that was paid for the freedom we cherish today.
