In a major crackdown on unauthorized construction, the Badrinath administration has sealed seven hotels that were being built without the necessary approvals from the local authority. The illegal construction activities had raised concerns about unregulated development in the holy town of Badrinath.
Along with sealing the hotels, authorities also took action against encroachers who had set up temporary shops near the main market area, close to the Loop Road. These makeshift establishments were demolished by the Badrinath Nagar Panchayat. This follows last year’s incident when 24 hotels, which were being constructed without authorization, were also sealed by the administration.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chandrashekhar Vashistha stated that no construction can take place in Badrinath Dham without proper approval from the authorities. He assured that the administration’s team is closely monitoring all ongoing construction activities in the area to prevent further illegal developments.
