Haldwani Overview of Alleged Fraud in Lal Kuan : Approximately 74 women from the Lal Kuan area reported a significant fraud, alleging that four women—Geeta, Rekha, Rakhi, and Sonam—collected gold jewelry from them under the promise of high returns on investment. According to the complaint, the jewelry, valued around 50 lakh rupees, was pledged to a jeweler, with the proceeds reportedly invested in property and interest schemes. However, the promised returns or jewelry have not been provided.
Commissioner’s Actions and Public Advisory
Following the complaint in the public hearing, Commissioner Deepak Rawat has taken serious notice, summoning all involved parties for the next session. He advised the public to invest only through legitimate banking channels, cautioning against high-interest schemes, which often lead to fraud.
Additional Cases Addressed
The commissioner also assisted local resident Rahim in recovering two lakh rupees from a vehicle sale and addressed a land dispute involving Mahipal Singh. In another public service act, he assured monitoring for victims of a recent bus accident, promising government aid to affected families.
Public Warning: Commissioner Rawat urged citizens to remain vigilant and warned against engaging in high-interest schemes, which can lead to financial exploitation.
